UV Index is built and supported by one person. I read every email and answer as quickly as I can.

When you write in, it helps a lot if you include:

  • Your device (e.g. iPhone 15, iPad Pro)
  • Your OS version (Settings → About)
  • The app version (see Settings inside UV Index)
  • What you were trying to do and what happened instead

Common issues

The UV index isn't showing / says "no data"

Check that:

  • The app has location permission (Settings → Privacy → Location Services → UV Index)
  • You have an internet connection (data is fetched from a weather service, not stored on-device)
  • You're not in a region where the weather provider has limited coverage

The sunscreen timer seems wrong

Sunscreen safe-time calculations depend on your skin type, current UV level, and the SPF you selected. Make sure your skin type is set correctly (Settings → Skin Type). Recommendations are based on standard Fitzpatrick skin-type guidelines and are approximations — individual skin varies.

Notifications aren't showing up

Check that notifications are enabled for UV Index in your device settings, and that "Do Not Disturb" or a Focus mode isn't suppressing them.

I lost my data after reinstalling

UV Index stores data on your device, so uninstalling removes it. If you have iCloud backup enabled, restoring your device from that backup will bring the data back.

When is the Android version coming?

Android is in active development. It shares much of the codebase with iOS, so most features will land at the same time. Follow @mrnickapps on TikTok for updates.

Email away. I keep a real list and prioritize based on what real users ask for.
