[ Ghost Tape · a game · REC ]

Six tapes.
One torch.
Do not stop filming.

A found-footage horror game for your phone. The house is dark, the tapes are somewhere in it, and the only thing that keeps the ghosts off you is the light — while the battery lasts.

Coming soon to Google Play.

Ghost Tape is in testing. The listing goes live once it has survived a few more nights with other people in the house. If you want a mail the day it ships, say so — no list, no newsletter, just one mail.

— Five ways to lose the tapes

Modes

  • 01

    Tape Hunt

Six tapes hidden in a dark house. One torch, one battery, and something that only backs off while the light is on it. Get every tape back to the fire.

  • 02

    Outbreak

The same house, but the dead walk the halls too — and they do not care about light. The torch keeps the ghosts off you; nothing keeps the zombies off you but your legs.

  • 03

    Zombie Run

An endless road at night. Dodge, grab power-ups, survive the waves, and see how far you get before the horde does.

  • 04

    The Maze

A hedge maze, a vacuum, and ghosts that do not want to be caught. Daze them with the torch, reel them in, bag them all.

  • 05

    Hold the House

Tower defence with your tape collection as the prize. Build lamps, vacuums and gun posts by day; hold the vault through five nights.

Features

  • // houses

    A new house every time

Hand-built houses to learn, and a generator that builds fresh ones — manors, hospitals, schools, chapels — with rooms, halls and locked wings you have never seen.

  • // daily

    House of the Day

One house, the same for everyone, for one day. Beat it, and your time goes on the board next to everybody else who dared.

  • // coop

    Co-op on the same wifi

Two phones, one house. No accounts, no typing an IP — the host shows up on your screen and you join. Works in Tape Hunt and Hold the House.

  • // ghosts

    Ghosts with habits

Hunters chase. Listeners hear you walk. Lurkers wait by the tapes. Wardens do not care about your torch. Learn who is in the house before it learns you.

  • // records

    Records & achievements

Local top-ten per house and mode, an optional online board under a nickname, streaks for playing daily, and a set of achievements to chase.

  • // privacy

    No ads, no tracking

Nothing is shown to you but the game. Progress lives on your phone. The only thing that ever leaves it is a nickname and a score, if you post one.

Questions

When is it out?
Soon. Ghost Tape is in testing now. The Google Play listing goes live once it has survived a few more nights with other people. Want to be told? Send a mail and you will be.
Android or iOS?
Android first. iOS is not ruled out, but there is no date for it.
Is it scary?
It is a torch-in-the-dark game with jump scares. The atmosphere does most of the work. You can turn vibration off, and the sound down, in Settings.
Does it cost anything?
The game is free, with everything you need to play. One optional house pack is planned as a single purchase. No subscriptions, no ads, ever.
Does co-op need an account?
No. Co-op is over your local wifi, phone to phone. Nothing goes through a server, and nobody needs to sign in.
